The sacrifices we make for love.
I collect a few things. Specifically, I collect old nickels. Even more specifically, an 5¢ piece that's as old as or older than I gets added to the collection.
My wife had a rather bad day at work today. After she got home, she wanted a drink, bad. She'd picked up some Smirnoff cranberry/vodka thing, but it wasn't doing the trick. She has a partial bottle of Jim Beam, but no Coke to go with it. We have a Coke machine in the laundry room on the 3rd floor, and a 16oz bottle is $1. The problem is, we don't carry cash. I have no cash in my wallet at all. She has a $5 in hers. The machine only takes ones or coins. I had 45¢ on my desk, and she had a nickel in her wallet. After scrounging through the entire loft, I found a quarter in a drawer. Then I found two dimes that were mixed in with my penny jar. 95¢, close, but not a dollar. Then I remembered my coin collection. I ended up digging out a 1968D nickel from my collection (I had two).
She's now enjoying her Jim Beam & Coke. Because I love her and decided to sacrifice part of my collection for her.
