The 2nd Best Magician in Austin
Cynthia and I drove down to Austin to check out the big Whole Foods and have dinner. She blogged about the trip here, so I won't repeat that.
After dinner, we were checking out the flyers at the macrobiotic school, and I came across this one:

The text in the yellow circle reads "Austin's Second Best Magician, 2004"
I found it hilarious that he is promoting the fact that he's second best. I suppose if I were in the market for a magician, and I couldn't get the best, I'd settle for second best. And how do they determine which magician is best? Dueling tricks? Magic Bee? A test comprised of mulitple choice questions, essay, and practical application? I want to know!

Good question:
I am the only magician to ever come in second place in the Austin Magic Competition for two years in a row. At that point I said that I was Austin's Second Best Magician and it stuck. I also feel that it is a bit presumptuous to say that you are the best at anything. Thanks for your curiosity!
