My lower back is killing me

I think I pulled or strained a muscle in my lower back last week when I was moving one of those $1200 leather recliners in the clubhouse. I woke up the next morning with a pain in my lower back just above my tailbone. It hurt off and on all weekend long. As the week has progressed, it doesn't seem to be getting better. I've taken ibuprofen, but that's not helping much, either. It hurts when I sit, it hurts when I stand, it hurts when I move around. I've called in to work, and will try to get in to the doctor today, but I don't know that he'll do much other than prescribe a muscle relaxer or some kick-ass pain pill.

It feels like I've been stabbed at the base of my spine, and they left the knife in there.
