When one Door of Opportunity closes, another opens

Or some such shit.

Well, as I've previously posted about, the company I work for was in the running to get the contract to keep doing what we do here at the Nameless Merchant. We were one of the final 3 bidders. We figured we had the best shot at it since we were already here doing the job, and they were very happy with us.

Guess what. They decided on a contractor yesterday. It wasn't us. They chose to go with a national Office & Print Center company instead. They said something about producing the work closer to their ~40 stores by using the internet & scanning the originals. Well, we don't have that many stores, and even if we did, we don't have stores near the Nameless Merchant's other locations, while the O&PC does. So we lost it because of software. My manager came down to the copy center today to personally tell us, so that we wouldn't hear it via rumor.

On the brighter side of the situation, I've been told that I'll still have a job with TR, we just don't know where. Or even what I'd be doing. I may end up at a different facility making large format copies all day. Or I could end up in a store, doing either color or b/w copying. Or I could go into the relief pool. I won't know for a couple of months (the transition to O&PC is supposed to happen mid-December).

So, my job is in limbo. I'm not too keen on going back to a storefront position, but I will. I was thinking in the shower this morning that I need to find a job that entails surfing the internet and writing to my blog all day. And listening to music. Hell, I just need to win the lottery so I can afford to do whatever I want to do. Of course, that would involve actually purchasing a lottery ticket.

Oh, well. I'm sure it'll all work out.

Awww, that sucks! Nameless Merchant was so convenient for you. Sorry that had to happen. I'm crossing my fingers that another great opportunity just drops into your lap
