Something you never want to hear when getting a haircut.

C and I went over to her best friend Michael's house this past Saturday. We both have been in need of getting haircuts, and he's good at cutting hair, even though he has had no formal training. We think it might be a gay thing, but we're not positive.

Anyway, C went first, and he did a good job. While he was cutting her hair, his boyfriend, Michael (yes, they're both named Michael), and I were talking. He said that Michael cuts his hair (which looked good), as well as the hair of numerous family members. I've never been too picky about haircuts, so I wasn't that worried.

When it was my turn, I sat on the stool, and he asked what we were doing. I told him short. Shorter than Michael's, but not necessarily as short as his, unless it ended up that way, in which case I was ok with it. He pulled out 3 guards for his clippers, and went to work.

He started in the back, then shifted to my left side. As he was clipping over my left ear, I hear him say, "Oops."

I said, "what oops?"

He replied, "I am so sorry. I started with the wrong guard. I meant to start with the longer guard and work my way to the shorter one, but I started with the shortest one. I am so sorry."

I told him it was no big deal, that as long as it ended up even, I didn't care. He finished up, and it looks good. Not quite as good as the $30 haircut I've been getting, but better than I could've done myself. I'll go back to him again, since the price is right (a $6.99 bottle of wine).
