So I see that it's been a while since I last came here.
Lots of things have happened: I lost my job, C's car got totaled, we bought a new car to replace it, and I'm still looking for permanent work.
My boss called me into his office at 4:45pm on June 15, payday. He told me that it was my last day. I asked why, and was told that my productivity was low. I asked why I'd never been spoken to about it before. He said that it was "...an ongoing thing over the last 6 months." I knew then that it was BS because in those last 6 months we'd broken a sales record, and my departments were consistantly in the top 10 in the region in sales. I later found out that he had rehired Marty, the former store manager, to replace me. I should have known from day 1 that he wasn't the best person to be working for -- he told me when he hired me that he'd already filled the position, but that I was more qualified than the other person, so he was going to tell them that he found someone else. At the time I needed a job pretty badly, so I didn't mind.
On July 6, C got rear-ended a block from her work. She's ok, and the car was drivable, but the damage was so extensive that the other guy's insurance company decided to total the car. We settled with them for enough to pay off the last year of her note, plus extra to put down on a new car. We ended up getting a 2001 VW New Beetle 1.8T:

It's pretty sweet. It handles beautifully, accellerates nicely, and gets decent mileage, even though we have to use premium. And those wheels are tight.
I've been temping a bit, at TR. I've worked at two of their locations so far, their SuperStore, and their managed site at NM. I like the NM location because it's small, but busy. I wouldn't mind working for them permanently. I've also applied at a plethora of other business, and even had a few interviews. I've had a phone interview and two in-person interviews with Dm in Irving. I'd love to work for them, as they'd most likely train me to fix the machines as well as run them. They have a long hiring process, I had to take a personality survey, and fully expect them to want to do DNA analysis to see if I'm genetically compatible with running copiers. I hope they decide soon, being out of work sucks.
Well, that's all for now, maybe I'll keep up better than every three months...
