And yet another project for which I don't have enough time to complete.

I used to have a rather extensive cassette collection. Over the years, I slowly was converting to CD. A couple of years ago, when my wife and I were cleaning out our storage stuff, I threw out a bunch of tapes, ones I had on CD, or never was going to listen to again. I hung on to about 50-75 though. Rare ones that I haven't been able to find on CD, or don't want to pay a premium for because they're rare on CD, too.

I've been wanting to convert them to mp3/wma since I started doing an internet radio show/podcast. A friend told me about a device that installed in one's computer as an expansion card that was a cassette player and recording software. He has one, and finally got it working. I thought about asking to borrow his, but then I thought, "wait, I've got a Kenwood KX-95W dual cassette deck sitting on the floor of my closet. I've also got an RCA-to-mini-stereo-headphone patch cord. I've also got Audacity. I should connect the tape deck to the line-in port of my sound card and just record the tapes for free."

Well, I finally got around to digging everything out tonight. I had to take the bottom panel off the deck to clean out the dust to get one of the cassette slots to work, but that was no problem. I now have the capability to convert my cassettes (and vinyl, for that matter), to wma/mp3.

If Mango thinks my song selection is random now, he should just wait.

Comments:
Hey, you took my link away.

I'm sad.

Ooops, sorry.

I'll put it back.

I'm still making changes to the new template. I'm trying to better organize the links I have.
